In the new economy, businesses that thrive will be those which successfully achieve totally new levels of integration: of processes, applications and employees inside; of suppliers, distributors and customers outside. This kind of integration is hard work, but the rewards are well worth the effort - an enterprise that is responsive to changes in its environment, flexible in its operations, focused on its core competencies, and resilient to all manner of challenges and threats.
As a new-economy, knowledge-based company we are passionately committed to adding value for our clients: from helping to keep inventories stocked to simultaneously providing market news and intelligence from oceans away. Our solutions, services and offerings are revolutionizing the way businesses conduct commerce.
For the last five years, mjunction has created services that have helped businesses realize cost-savings, transparency and greater efficiency in sales and sourcing functions. As India's leading Ecommerce Company and the world largest steel marketplace, mjunction is now looking at newer territories across industry verticals. To achieve our vision, we are always looking out for talented individuals who are ambitious, love challenges and share our passion to excel.

“Poonam Rana loves to see herself as a link between the two neighbouring countries of India and Nepal. She hails from a soft and down-to-earth Nepalese family, and yet has her roots deeply entwined in the diversified and ebullient Indian culture. The city of Kolkata has always been Poonam's first love, and she perceives it as a city with innumerable facades of life and joy. Of course, for her, it is always refreshing to escape to the hills from time to time, far from the hustle and bustle of Kolkata.”
Poonam joined the mjunction family in mid 2006 in autojunction operations at a time when autojunction was a budding department. After working there for just about a month, she was transferred to metaljunction, which was then called steel operations.
This is when she was introduced to the world of steel, metals and chemicals which was till then an alien field for someone who came from a commerce background with an experience in customer service. It was here that she received thorough training and was groomed to be an auction controller. She feels the work of an auction controller may look like a cakewalk but that is a misconception. In her three-year stint as an auction controller, every day brought in new challenges as she handled numerous auctions with a variety of products and with different auction types. All this could have been more difficult and complicated if there wasn't a product training and the plant visit at Tata Steel's plant in Jamshedpur by which she got acquainted with various types of steel items and which inculcated the basic knowledge of steel making in her.
When Poonam joined, the company still had its old name metaljunction. With time it was re-christened to mjunction. To her the "m" in mjunction will always stand for "my", and she believes mjunction has always lived up to its name, as over time she has developed a sense of belonging with the company. It is here that she learnt that work becomes easier and more enjoyable if colleagues become friends, and the constant support of her peers and seniors helped her to grow as a person and as a professional. "Work hard and play harder" is a saying that fits the bill perfectly for mjunction, she feels. The different outings, picnics and parties organised by the company is a great way to bring everybody together. They help people to unwind and keep aside work pressure and worries for some time.
Poonam has been recently transferred to the pre-auction team where she handles the pre-auction activities for coal chemicals. This is again a different experience for her as the work has to be done in tandem with the client's and the customer's needs at the same time.
Poonam loves to spend time by watching absolutely anything on television, except the news channels and cricket matches which she finds boring and tiring. She is fond of listening to music which must be peppy and yet melodious. She has a close group of friends and finds herself chatting away irresistibly with them. She is a huge movie buff, and loves to watch movies in her spare time. Of late, her colleagues and friends have actually turned her into a film critic as they ask her for a review before catching a movie! Apart from this, reading and travelling are her other enduring passions.

“Born and brought up in Dhanbad, a town known as the coal capital of India, in the state of Jharkhand, Ashok Roy completed his schooling from there itself. For further studies he moved to Karnataka to pursue a B E degree in Mechanical from the Karnataka University.”
Born and brought up in Dhanbad, a town known as the coal capital of India, in the state of Jharkhand, Ashok Roy completed his schooling from there itself. For further studies he moved to Karnataka to pursue a B E degree in Mechanical from the Karnataka University.
"Even today I fondly recall those college days which were fun-filled. There were no bindings. After finishing classes in the morning we would engage ourselves in full time MASTI," says Roy.
Academics were always a priority, which is why on completing his course in engineering Roy enrolled himself for a management course in marketing from Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies, Pune.
Roy began his career with Jindal Stainless Ltd's (JSL), a stainless steel manufacturing company, marketing department where he was given the responsibility to sell stainless steel prime products in the north-Indian market. He spent five and a half years with JSL working and learning a great deal from his seniors and colleagues.
However, the sudden demise of his mother made Roy quit his job and move to a location which was closer to where his family resided. The opportunity to relocate came in the form of a job opening at mjunction, Kolkata in the year 2004 as an auction controller in steel sales.
It was indeed a great challenge for Roy to cope with a completely new environment and new job profile. "Conducting and controlling auctions was new to me. I had to grasp everything fast and learn the process as soon as possible," recalls Roy.
Knowing fully well that there was absolutely no scope for error in the type of job he was handling, Roy had to ensure that the back-end operations were carried out with precision. He had to mould himself into a multi-tasker wherein he would be conducting auctions and simultaneously replying to the queries of the customers on various auction related issues.
The auction group, according to Roy, prioritized sharing issues of concern and coming up with solutions. "Some of the aspects which made working in the auction room a pleasurable experience were team work, unity and the commitment to deliver as desired. I am thankful to all my colleagues and seniors who extended the support in helping me to learn and deliver my job successfully," said Roy.
After working for almost two and a half years as an auction controller in Kolkata, Roy relocated to Bokaro where he represented mjunction's steel sales department as a Client Relationship Manager (CRM) at SAIL-Bokaro.
When Roy joined the Bokaro branch, the client was sitting with a huge inventory and liquidating the same was a challenging task. What helped him overcome this challenge was the relationship he had built during his days in the auction room. Visits to the customer premises and understanding the requirements of the material were charted down. The only criterion was to develop the competition among customers. Plans were chalked out to cut down the huge material list by specifically putting the material in demand. The strategy worked out for Roy and also, the upward market movement helped in liquidating the entire material.
Success on this front gave a boost to Roy's confidence and also helped him in undertaking new set of tasks. One of the initiatives taken by him on behalf of mjunction includes the introduction of Buyer Finance Scheme at Bokaro Steel Plant.
Successful selling in steel, chemical and idle assets has helped in proving mjunction's strength in e-auctions, feels Roy. Moreover, appreciation from a satisfied client always serves as a driving force for Roy to scale newer heights.
Roy who got married in the year 2002 is blessed with two sons, Shantanu and Sourav. He is simple by nature and enjoys spending his leisurely hours with his sons and family, which brings in a lot of relaxation.
At the time when Roy joined the company, it was known as metal junction dot com pvt ltd which then got changed to metaljunction services ltd and finally to mjunction services limited, as it is known today. These changes according to Roy are not limited to the name itself but signify the journey which the company has undertaken so far and he feels proud of the fact that he has been one of the few privileged junctionites who have been witness to this growth and transformation.
"It makes me happy when a client or customer says that 'mjunction has brought transformational change in the selling methodology'. To which I say, 'It is the transparency, innovation and efficiency of our work culture that makes it possible," concluded Roy.
